May Goals

April Review:
Spiritual
-Do visiting teaching.
-Watch conference. Check!
-Find primary sub. Check!
-Help kids memorize the monthly Primary scripture: The Family: A Proclamation to the World – “Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and. . . the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children” Check!

House
-Clean out the garage.  We have been waiting for warmer weather, so this should be the month. I am hopeful next Saturday will be warm enough.Check! So nice to have this done!
-Continue work on my Holiday Binder. Tabs are created, now I need to label and put a sheet of paper in each section where I can begin to put ideas. Didn't do a thing.
-Buy a pack of poster board. I have chosen a color pallet for the house, now I plan on painting a big poster board- like a big paint chip I can move around the room to make sure I like. Check!
-Buy ceiling paint and paint the ceiling in the living and dining room white. Check!
-Begin yard work! Fertilize lawn, prune bushes, etc. Still waiting for spring....

Hobbies
-Take Lightroom class. Trying to decide if this is a good idea since we will be on vacation for Spring Break or if I should wait until May? Trying for May...
-Take an organ lesson from Sherri. Check!
-Build small garden box and plant peas. :( Not done. Probably won't get peas but putting this on May goals...
-Hem one pair of pants! Probably should stop putting this on my list...

Health
-Exercise 5x per week. I'm training for a 5K at the end of May,  so I am trying to increase my running endurance.  Mostly check. I am not running everyday, but I am building up my endurance.
-Eat less refined sugar. I had a successful no sugar week, but need to create a "Do Not Eat" list of stuff that doesn't make me feel good. Even though it doesn't make me feel good, it is still tough to eliminate. So hard. Doing well on some aspects and NOT at all on others. Also the goal was too vague and not specific enough.

April: Week5

Last week:
Spiritual
-Contact my visiting teaching partner and follow up if she had a chance to contact our people, or if we still need to do that.  Called her but she never got back to me.
-Prepare Primary lesson. Try to do that on Thursday.  Did get this done earlier in the week than normal.
-Have the kids recite the Primary scripture 5 times this week.  Forgot about this until last minute, so we recited it a bunch on the drive to church. Maddie got it memorized and Clark is really close!

House
-Buy and fertilize lawn. It is finally time! -Bought it! Just need to apply.
-Gather sticks in yard. Clean up from winter.
-Hoping Saturday to clean out the garage. I think the weather will cooperate. BEST accomplishment of the week!
-Vacuum out the car from our road trip.
-Do a ten minute pick up at night, even though I am super tired. It doesn't take long and makes such a big difference in the morning and my attitude. -Tried to do this and I got some days and missed some.

Family
-Plan the summer schedule! Including vacations (camping, Boise, Ohio), activities (baseball, t-ball, basketball camp, Maddie, swim lessons) and day trips/things we want to do close (nature center, zoo, etc).  Getting close on most all of the details. I hate schedule planning. :(
Call babysitters for Fri and Sat. Three dates this week! (We are also going out tonight.) Wahoo!  Had lots of fun.

Hobbies
-Fix Clark's blanket. It is in shreds but he won't give it up yet.

Health
-Run 12 min per day, 5 times this week. I am running a 5K at the end of May and really need to built up my endurance. Probably only got 4 days but close enough.

No review from last week since I didn't set any goals. I did have an organ lesson from Sherri while we were gone, so that was great!

Mar: Week 4

Month:
Spiritual
Contact visiting teaching people- hopefully visit. Did this! Well, visited our one person that lets us. Left a message at the other's house.

House
Inventory food storage
Finish meal idea list I don't know that the list is ever finished, but I have worked on and updated it.

Hobbies
Learn another song on the piano. Primary song #103 Baptism. I have this one really close. Just have to learn the into.
Hem all of Dave's billion pants that are sitting in a pile unhemmed.

Health
Exercise 5 times per week
Go to bed early

Week:
-Continue no sugar this week. A friend suggested on Wednesday that we do no sugar from Saturday- Friday. I decided to do it with her. The first day was hard, but it is getting easier. I don't feel like I eat a lot of sugar, but this still has been eye opening.  Did the no sugar week. Hoping to maintain more control of treats now.
-Hem some pants!!
-Plan group date night. We have 2 couples that we go out with regularly and this time it is our turn to plan the date. We went to a cooking class. So fun!
-Help Maddie finish her project on Thomas Jefferson. Maddie turned in her project today. So glad it is over, but she did well and was so proud of it.
-Load new music to exercise to.-
-Exercise 4 times this week. I have been bad about exercising this week. :( Time to recommit.

This week:
Spiritual
Plan my primary lesson before Saturday.

House
Discuss lighting options with electrician. (We are looking to put some can lights in our family room and kitchen.) See if this is even an option.
Begin to put together a binder of "holidays" so I have some ideas for what to do and how to simply decorate. That way the holidays don't slip past me and I am accused of not doing anything.
Continue a few spring cleaning chores: pull out fridge and vacuum behind and dust inside the computer.

Hobbies
The problem with my hobbies right now is that I don't have a good area to create. I have to pull out my sewing machine to the kitchen and get it all cleaned up before the next meal. Including that kind of cleanup into the time allotted in not appealing for me to even want to drag it all out. Maybe I will just work on getting my crafting space better organized in a way that will help the process some. So the goal is to Clean up the craftroom.

Health
Exercise 4X . I feel like this is always on my list but I have not developed a good routine around it so it feels sporadic. Until I am more likely to get this done, it will stay on my list.

Monday, March 17, 2014

Mar: Week 3

-Call visiting teacher person to see if we can visit on Friday.  Did this and we are planning on going tomorrow! (We have a really tough route.)
-Do a project/cooking lesson with the kids this afternoon, since they have early release today. Can't remember that long ago...
-Get ahead of homework today so the week is smoother. (Maddie is gearing up for a big project so I especially don't want to get behind.) Did fairly well. Always room for improvement, but I think we are doing good enough.
-Make sure all of the menus are planned so I can go to the store Wednesday or Friday. Hopefully Wed. Made it to the store Wednesday. Drove the kids down to Chicago on Thursday. Was a long trip, but we had fun.
-Continue no screens.  We have done well, but I have started to let them have soem screens, but more moderation is in place.
Ilah had a fever for several days this week (teething) and Dave had the stomach flu over the weekend, so I felt like it was a really long week in some aspects, with little accomplishment.

This week:
-Continue no sugar this week. A friend suggested on Wednesday that we do no sugar from Saturday-Friday. I decided to do it with her. The first day was hard, but it is getting easier. I don't feel like I eat a lot of sugar, but this still has been eye opening.
-Hem some pants!!
-Plan group date night. We have 2 couples that we go out with regularly and this time it is our turn to plan the date.
-Help Maddie finish her project on Thomas Jefferson.
-Load new music to exercise to.
-Exercise 4 times this week.

I feel like motivation is low for me this week too. I want so much for it to be springier weather, but it is not here yet. I am itching to get outside, do yard work and just let the kids play. Soon enough.

Mar: Week 2

Last week's goals review: -Forgot about this. Again. Which it is why it is on my goal list in the first place because the pants have been sitting there forever.
Go to bed at 9 pm. - Did well on this one. Except for the weekend when we went out and were up far too late...
Lay out exercise clothes by my bed every night. I will most likely exercise in the morning if I remember this one small detail. -This did help. I also made a point to exercise 5 days this week, which was great. I didn't always get it done first thing in the morning, which is preferred, but I utilized nap times for the mornings I didn't get it done earlier, just to still do it. I am mostly just walking right now- trying to build my stamina back up to running, so I am not sweaty and can get away with this right now.
Measure Dave to hem pants. Hem one pair.-Forgot about this. Again. Which it is why it is on my goal list in the first place because the pants have been sitting there forever.
Take 5 pictures for Photo a day. -Still not doing great on this one either. But I'll keep trying.
Other things I didn't list, but got done: Our taxes! This year I actually tried to do them myself before sending them to Dad, and I was close! Just a few number differences and I could tell what I did wrong. So I was happy.

This week is going to be a harder week to get stuff done. It's dentist appointment week and then Dave has a big test on Tuesday that he has been studying for. No school on Thursday- parent/teacher conference and then I am taking the kids down to Chicago to visit Daphne and Adam. So most of the week will be making sure I am ready and preparing.
This week:
-Call visiting teacher person to see if we can visit on Friday.
-Do a project/cooking lesson with the kids this afternoon, since they have early release today.
-Get ahead of homework today so the week is smoother. (Maddie is gearing up for a big project so I especially don't want to get behind.)
-Make sure all of the menus are planned so I can go to the store Wednesday or Friday. Hopefully Wed.
-Continue no screens. Kevin, Ilah and I are not doing I-pad or t.v. during the day. This has been alright at times and painful at others. While I believe in moderation, once they start on screens, I have a really hard getting them off. So I have decided to cut them cold turkey for at least 3 weeks to re-program all of us to think of another alternative. Mostly me. It is easier to just not start them in the first place. And with Dave having been studying the last week in the evening, I have really been re-evaluating our use of free time and finding a lot of time wasters. Which has been interesting as I feel I have been complaining lately about how I don't know how to fit it all in...

March

First up- February review:

1. Finish one unfinished project. I have been meaning to hang some hooks in our mudroom to keep the chaos of backpacks, coats and snowgear at bay. My goal is to decide on where to hang these hooks and get them up!
2. I have been trying to relearn the piano. My goal is to learn one new hymn this month.
3. I have been debating on this last one. I can't decide whether to get up a little earlier, have a better bedtime routine, or an exercise goal. I feel like they all correlate- If I get up earlier, I can add exercise into my morning routine. If I do better at my bedtime routine and get to bed on time, it will be easier to get up on time/earlier in the morning. So this month I am going to try to get up at 6:30 every morning. Whew! That is going to be a tough one.

We got the mudroom hooks hung!
I learned #193 on the piano.
#3 is being tweeked.
I also completed my Santa stitchery and placemats that I have been working on for years!!
And the Photo-A-Day: tough. I got 6 days. Not close to half, but oh well.

March goals:
I like the list of various aspects of life and a goal under them, so I will try that.
I have to say, I am quite unmotivated so far this month. Mostly today. Probably because i was up with various kids for several hours last night. Hopefully I will get a few more things on my list as the month goes on.

Spiritual
Contact visiting teaching people- hopefully visit.

House
Inventory food storage
Finish meal idea list

Hobbies
Learn another song on the piano. Primary song #103 Baptism.

Feb: Week 4

Since we were out of town last week, no review of last weeks goals!

This week:

-Try to be more on top of dinner. Think about it in the morning and do any prep work possible for it. This will free up some time in the afternoons for me to be more involved in the kids homework.
-Continue to go to bed early. Sickness has not helped getting up earlier to exercise.
-Finish Santa stitchery. I'm so close!

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Feb: Week 1

Well, other than not getting around to posting Monday-(too busy!), I have made progress on my goals.

1. Hang hooks for the mudroom.
Is done!! Thanks to Dave, of course. My goals aren't meant to be honey-do lists, but he did do this one for me.

2. Learn hymn #193.
I have my hymn pretty close to learnt. I feel like it could just use some polishing if I ever planned on accompanying with it.

3. Get up at 6:30 am.
Getting up earlier has been hard! I did well for the first couple of days but was tired and cranky. I have switched my focus to going to bed earlier and that has been helpful.

I'm making a lot of progress on my Santa stitchery. I kept thinking that I could get it done this week, but like I said- I'm close, and yet there is still a lot to do. Definitely by the end of the month!
I also bought fabric to finish my placemats, but I haven't been motivated to finish that this week. In turn I also bought fabric to make Maddie a scripture bag, so here's to another unfinished project!
I have also taken a couple of pictures this week. Better than none, but sometimes I just don't know what to take a picture of!! Crippled by indecision once again!
